I am a Partner in the Ontario office of Best Best & Krieger, LLP , and I am a member of the Business Services Group. I am frequently the outside general counsel for businesses which have a regular need for legal guidance in the areas of human resources, contract review and analysis, intellectual property and regulatory compliance. While they may not want or need a full-time General Counsel, these clients need a lawyer they can trust to guide them with both outstanding legal knowledge and the substantial real-life business experience which I bring to the table. Because many of my clients are first or second generation business owners, I frequently help them with related issues including estate planning, succession planning and exit strategy planning.

I served as Executive Vice-President and General Counsel to Lexxiom, Inc. and related companies, and advised the businesses on labor and employment, contract and litigation issues. I provided services to companies in the back office support, internet services and non-emergency medical transportation fields.

For 10 years, I was a partner with Best Best & Krieger, LLP in its Ontario, California office. Drawing on my experiences as General Counsel in my prior position, I advised both private and public clients in transactional and litigation matters to try to reach cost-effective and favorable resolutions. In that time, I served as the Practice Group Leader for the Business Practice Group, and also as the Litigation Practice Group leader. I left this position to become General Counsel for a client, and then returned as a partner in the firm in 2012.

After Redlands Federal Bank was sold, I became a partner with a boutique San Bernardino law firm whose partners had previously been with Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher in Los Angeles and Latham & Watkins in Orange County. After a great year of business growth and personal reflection, I decided to join Best Best & Krieger, LLP to obtain the larger firm resources which my practice needed.

Redlands, California

I joined Redlands Federal in 1989 as its first-ever Senior Vice-President and General Counsel. In 1992, I was promoted to Executive Vice-President, Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel for the bank and for its holding company. In my role as COO, I was responsible for all non-lending operations at the bank, which was a $1 billion institution headquartered in Redlands, with 14 branches. Divisions reporting to me included Human Resources, Retail Banking, IT, Facilities and Marketing. I continued to serve as General Counsel for the bank, and for its holding company, where I interfaced with the securities counsel when we became a publicly traded company. The bank was acquired by another institution in 1998.
