Brian Huang is a ML at Google DeepMind. Colleagues describe them as "I had the pleasure of being Brian’s manager during his summer internship at Centrly. Brian was a full-stack software engineering intern, helping build the Webapp platform and early recommendation systems. I want to highlight three key differentiators for Brian - quick learner, strategic thinker, and collaborative. Quick Learner - Brian joined Centrly with minimal knowledge of the programs we use for our tech stack. We initially set the goal for him to work on some of the graph analytics, which would require him to understand the workings of the database back-end, run the correct algorithms on the data, and then visualize the results in the form of recommendations on the front-end. Strategic Thinker - Brain led the project for envisioning the early recommendation system. He developed the framework of which algorithms to use, based on market research of competitors, and proposed the strategy to the team, then successfully implemented the solution. Collaborative - Given Brian’s full-stack role, he had to interface with our global, international team of software engineers and UX designer, all around the world. This meant late Friday night calls, which he consistently made, and tracking his work on Trello and communicating via Slack to garner input and iterate. Any team will be lucky to have Brian. I look forward to seeing what complex problems he solves in the future."
