About Brian Barber

Brian is a co-founder and managing partner of Lake Financial Group. His focus is retirement and fiduciary services – spending his time working with business owners, executive-level officers, high net worth individuals, and plan trustees. Brian currently holds a Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor (CPFA) designation and is recognized nationally as a Qualified Plan Specialist. His career in financial planning started in 2008 after watching his Father, Steve, help countless families and small businesses over his 43-year financial planning career. Brian began his working years in IT as a Network Administrator, flying around the country connecting large cities to multiple networks. Brian has been able to leverage the out of the box skills learned in IT to design customized strategies for the challenging, and often complex, financial issues his clients face. He believes in constant personal improvement and continuous knowledge growth. For these reasons he is regularly asked to present and speak to fellow advisors on several advanced financial planning strategies. Being able to be an important part of our client’s lives is a very gratifying experience. The trust our clients place in us is humbling and we are honored to always do what is right for them.A Port Washington native, Brian is actively involved in his community. He coaches football and wrestling, serves on multiple local boards, sponsors a local scholarship, and spends time teaching a financial 101 course at the local high school. Brian is married to his incredible wife, Andi, and together they are raising four very active children (Chase 14, Chloe 12, Georgia 11, and Dylan 9). When Brian is not working or contributing to his community, he does a variety of activities. He enjoys hunting and woodworking with Chase, paddle boarding with Chloe, gardening with Georgia, and playing football and soccer with Dylan. Additionally, Brian and his sons bond over go-kart racing at Road America. Now that Brian's athletic abilities are on the downslope, he lives vicariously through his children's activities, which include wrestling, football, gymnastics, soccer, and track.

Together our team uses an educational process-based approach that focuses on assisting individuals and businesses with their financial goals, with a specialized knowledge on qualified retirement planning and small business benefits planning. I hold my FINRA Series 7, 6, 63 and 65 registrations, and my life, health and long-term care insurance licenses. I earned my bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee in Business Marketing. I am a lifelong, 3rd generation resident of Port Washington with my beautiful wife, Andrea, and our children, Chase, Chloe, Georgia, and Dylan. I try to stay active and engaged in our community by providing an annual scholar-athlete scholarship at Port Washington High School, sponsoring our local YMCA, festivals, events and races, sponsoring halftime contests at high school sporting events, volunteering my time speaking in classrooms to promote financial literacy, and being an active member of the Lions Club, Historical Society, BID Board, and The Port Exploreum.
