The scope of this project was to integrate the electronics, controls, and mechanics into a welded steel enclosure. A new, cheaper, more efficient substrate heater was also designed and incorporated into this platform. A customer-requested, special “clean room” version of this machine was also a project of mine. Prior to that, I was the Project Manager and designer of the D-580 series. During my tenure at Asymtek, I was responsible for many projects, some standard and a lot of customer specials. Responsible, as well, for many sophisticated assembly fixtures. In-house machine shop allowed for self-machining of many needed parts. Generated all detail drawings and responsible for all interactions with vendors and machine shops.Lost position due to company reduction of workforce.

Primary mechanical design engineer on multiple products to support the research and development of products for the imaging industry. Involved in designing several subsystems for a new state-of-the-art printer in its prototype stage. Primarily involved with the paper handling sub-system, including the paper sheet feeder. When released to market, this printer will deliver full color copies at 10 pages per minute and cost less than half of comparable printers. Routinely conceptualize and detail structural components, drives, and peripheral mechanisms. Arrange for fabrication and procurement of most parts. Assist in the assembly, adjustment and testing of all subsystems. All projects culminated successfully.

Designer of factory automation equipment. Mostly PLC-driven step motor, servo, or pneumatic assemblies. Conceptualized, detailed, and built many original and innovative mechanisms. The majority of these devices were vibratory bowl fed or filled magazine type with guide mechanisms and testing stations, then pick-and-place mechanisms, process, test, and store.
