About Brian Spollen
I've leveraged earlier experience in software development into a current career in software automation testing, and envision continuing down this career path for the foreseeable future, It's an extension of my lifelong enjoyment of problem-solving.Testing software, I've found, is much more than just the technology used (WebDriver, TestComplete, FitNesse, Python, etc.), but instead is more a matter of attitude.Whereas the developer may be satisfied with getting the software to work, the tester isn't satisfied unless the software is made to fail. This includes breaking rules and expectations; going beyond what was specified...because frequently the specification fails to anticipate what actual users will do. I try to act as a proxy for those real-life users, which has often led to uncovering problems before they reach those users.When not testing, I enjoy photography: the "banner picture" with the sunflowers is one of my own. Which, in some ways, is another form of problem-solving. How do I compose the image to convey the visual message? Can darkroom techniques make desired improvements?
