I focused on companies with a technology/life science background to provide them with advice regarding their international business strategy and how to best position their businesses for growth. This role followed a period of three years working with Business Link as a specialist adviser for the medical/healthcare sector.

Initially hired as a consultant but later employed as Marketing Director with responsibility for developing the European/ME microbiology business. I left company when it was acquired by Fisher Inc, at which time there was major business consolidation and reorganisation.

I managed the business in an interim capacity after the previous MD left. I developed the Strategic Plan for the business and maintained domestic and international ales during a difficult corporate period.

Manchester

Raised £2.3M venture funding for this Manchester University spin-out business and progressed through to international product launch. Technology involved biosensors for analysis in clinical diagnostics and non-clinical applications. The business remit included CRO activities and the development of international business partnerships, focused in the food sector.

I chaired the BLWA (a major UK Trade Association, active in the laboratory products and instrumentation sector) for three years and later became its President. During this time I was instrumental in merging BLWA with GAMBICA (another, sister, trade association), remaining on the Board for a further two years. These were NED roles.

A major role was to undertake activities resulting in the divestiture of the company from the Group to an American corporation. In addition, the business growth rate was sustained at a rate of 13% p.a. I left the company by agreement, subsequent to its divestiture
