During my time at the Walker Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre, I have had the chance to work on applied research projects with teams of Mechanical Engineering students under the leadership of Professional Engineers to design and construct 8 unique prototypes designed for eventual real world use. The scope of these prototypes ranged from farm equipment to "smart home" devices.My various roles in these projects include PLC wiring, setup and programming, printed circuit board design and assembly, control panel wiring, specifying electrical hardware requirements, design testing, and documentation of the design process by way of technical report writing.I have been selected to Represent Niagara College Research and Innovation by providing sponsorship for research projects, prototypes and other success stories at numerous research symposiums, showcases, and trade shows across Ontario.Outside of general research, I have also procured special equipment for use in applied research projects and developed standard operating procedures for their safe operation.
