Responsible for oversight of Materials Dept. setup at new manufacturing plant. Serve as #2 for the plant and therefore plant manager when the plant manager is offsite. Normal duties include managing material handlers, oversight of inventory including receiving, picking, issuing, cycle counts, safe materials movement throughout the plant and tracking of material shortages. I like the challenge of a startup but of course the work is difficult since many systems are not in place and there is not always enough people to delegate responsibilities to.

Oversaw the budget and operations of the City of Salem. Serve with 6 others as voting members of the legislative body of Salem, passing ordinances and resolutions.

Initially performed contract work for the Tech-Belt Energy Innovation Center in Warren, OH. TBEIC has a tech/energy based incubator organizing and supporting new businesses interested in developing energy and technical innovation. They also remodeled a former downtown department store building into state-of-the-art labs, meeting centers and office space for incubating of new businesses. Although no longer doing work for TBEIC, I remain a huge supporter of their efforts, and have retained the Take Root, LLC for other consulting opportunities should they arise. One area of particular interest is in evaluating retail businesses for feedback to ownership/management. To go onsite and observe for site, appearance, maintenance, displays, employee conduct, movement of customers throughout the operation and so forth. I believe that when people are sometimes too close to their business (or in far too many cases too far way from their business) they miss the blatant issues to those of us who observe.

Oversaw purchasing and material flow for new production facility. Responsible for oversight of material handlers and buyer. Also responsible for achieving specific metrics and goals related to the position. Still in the middle of manufacturing facility startup which is tremendously challenging and yet rewarding in the long term I believe.

Oversaw all day-to-day operations of the business. From hiring and firing, to pricing and dealing with customers' needs, to making sure the product went out the door in a timely and quality manner.
