My wife and I spent over four combined decades serving colleges, universities, independent secondary schools and college bound students and families throughout our careers. As an entrepreneur in the educational technology space, I came to a crossroads in my career looking to provide a great experience in a very different industry. After more than 28 years working with colleges and universities, I was ready for something new. I could have easily started another business in education. But along the journey and brainstorming process, my passions became clearer. And I devoted myself to starting something very different by the time I was 50. And that time has now come.A fan of coffee since I was very little sitting on my mom’s lap and sneaking a sip of her black coffee when she wasn’t looking, I spent time in the early 1990’s helping a roaster in Berks County, Pennsylvania with their marketing and promotional materials. Since embracing this returning passion for coffee, I spent a year studying the art and science of coffee roasting and understanding the business model of a cafe with the guidance of other successful coffee business owners in the area. I was trained and certified as a roastmaster at the Vermont School of Coffee. And the journey began.House Cup Coffee Roasters was launched formally in 2017. An important year in my life. A year when I sent my beautiful and talented daughter, Sarah, off to college. And when my wife and I welcomed our new born boy, Xavier, into this world (yes, you read that right). And I took another professional leap. Holding hands literally with my wife and figuratively with my friends, to bring this coffee vision to reality.
