My official title is, "Robotics Engineer," but this is a small company, and I wear a lot of hats!As a Network Engineer, I design and maintain our corporate network. I've made countless Ethernet cables.As an IT Administrator, I manage IT assets, billing, and training across Win/Lin/Mac including software, domains, phones, server hardware, accounts & permissions, data retention policies, and services including file servers, DNS, DHCP, docker containers, virtual machines (Xen, Hyper-V, and VirtualBox), backup, email, web sites, cloud services, etc. As an Information Security Specialist, I configure and maintain firewall NAT, routes, rules, VPN, VLANs, SSL certificates, email security (SPF, DMARC, DKIM), identify and clean up malware, and provide security training for employees. As a Customer Support/Applications Engineer, I handle escalated tickets for advanced robotics products and provide on-site customer training and design guidance based on communication with the customer about their application. As a Documentation Engineer, I develop and maintain product technical documentation and marketing brochures for customers in both online (wiki) and traditional (PDF) formats. As a Quality Systems Engineer, I help design and maintain an FDA-audited quality system for medical robotics, including IEC 60601 (Medical Devices), ISO 13485 (Quality Management), IEC 62304 (Medical Device Software), and ISO 14971 (Risk Management).As a Web Programmer, I develop and maintain a PHP/MySQL service for customer support downloads, configure virtual hosting on Apache & Nginx, install and maintain web services including a ticket system, git & GitLab, and various wikis, and I periodically review sites for content accuracy, stale links, and W3C compliance. As a Robotics Engineer, I help define high-level robot functionality and control architectures, assist in writing technical proposals, perform research and development, and write reports related to grants and contracts. As an Embedded Systems Designer, I assist with digital electronics design and system component selection, develop working prototypes and test fixtures, and perform detailed design reviews for electronics. As a Firmware & Software Engineer, I configure IDEs and toolchains, write low-level device drivers, embedded application firmware, communication protocols, PC-side drivers, customer-facing GUIs, and I build hard real-time platforms for robot control.
