My role with Action Civil covered the development, implementation and management of all aspects of Health & Safety management within this busy Civil Construction company. This included:Delivery of all company tool box meetings;Facilitation of Company Wide Operational and Management meetings;Representation of the company at site project progress meetings and industry H&S forums;Tender submissions;CCNZ Construction Award submissions author.My role also encompasses Environmental compliance requirements and contribution toward overall company Quality Assurance systems.

This committee is part of the Horowhenua District Council's Community Development Department.

While working with the team at Reveal Infrastructure as the HSQ Administrator I was tasked with further development and overall administration of the Reveal Health and Safety Management System. This included the implementation and administration of new HSEQ auditing and reporting systems, the establishment of Regional Health and Safety meetings and facilitation of staff participation in a strong company health and safety culture, along with reporting at the monthly senior management meetings – reporting on all incidents, issues and topics regarding all HSEQ matters.Within the Assistant Project Manager role for a contract with Transpower I oversaw the implementation of new site specific safety plans on job start up (on site as practicable) and ongoing coordination and support to field staff while on site.

The Social Sector Trial is a Central Government initiative that focuses on increasing opportunities and offering better outcome for 12 to 18 year olds. A multi-agency collaborative approach was adopted to enable key agencies to actively rewrite the way that Social Services are delivered to young people in their own areas.With initiatives that focus on four interlinked outcomes, the role of the Project Manager is to facilitate the delivery of the locally developed Action Plan; to communicate successes and challenges through to the Ministry of Social Development via monthly reporting and quarterly meetings, and to engage with the local community to ensure that activities and results are communicated.The five key agencies are the Ministries of Health, Social Development, Education, Justice and NZ Police.

An initiative that developed as part of the Trial was the local introduction of Check & Connect Mentoring into schools in the district.This initiative in the Horowhenua provides educational mentoring support to Intermediate and Secondary school youth, with a focus on youth that were at risk of disengaging from education, and staying with that young person for a minimum of two years, to be effective during transition phases of their lives.As this is being introduced as a pilot within NZ as part of the Prime Ministers Youth Mental Health Plan, there were real opportunities to develop the scope and ensure it integrated well into a NZ kaupapa.As part of the team involved with establishing this in NZ, it was an exciting opportunity to assist with insight into an NGO framework. As the Social Sector Trial Project Manager I was directly involved in the process.

Analysed the existing office structure to determine ineffective and missing processes and affected change by re-setting, re-structuring, compiling and implementing new office procedures to ensure a smoothly running system that all staff were able to use.
