At Teakoe, I helped with all things operations. From administrative office work, to putting together focus groups for market research, to social media, and to helping our accounting department, I did a little bit of everything. I enjoyed getting to learn about all the different aspects that go into creating products and getting to grow with a locally owned company whose values of sustainable, wellness, made right, aligned with my own.

I love their mission and how it’s incorporated into the operations, such as a monthly family dinner for the community where proceeds are donated to a meaningful cause. I love the blend between art and science that is craft coffee and was seeking to further my skills and education in the industry in this position. I truly enjoy the connection that a great cup of coffee, made with love, can create and how I was able to make lasting connections with the people in my community through working at Rivers and Roads.

For the 2019 season, I worked with Boulder County Farmers Markets to coordinate the Union Station Farmers Market. Each week, I would communicate with our full-time vendors, schedule guest vendors and musicians, and work with Eat Denver to set up a chef demo, all in preparation for our Saturday market. In addition, I would make posts on our social media accounts highlighting ingredients, recipes, and our local vendors. I loved getting to know the growers and producers here in Colorado, and getting to visit their farms and see the food that comes to market actually growing in the ground. I furthered my knowledge and passion for the food industry in this position and learned a lot about food access through our SNAP and DUB food assistance programs. It has made me an even bigger advocate for local, good food, and expanding access to it within my community.

At Olive & Finch, I learned the ins and outs of running a kitchen. I oversaw a small staff, implemented organizational systems to better workflow, created a daily prep-list, and oversaw the ordering for our store. I was able to stretch my creativity and come up with daily specials and soups for the store. In this role, I discovered my strengths for organization and managing products that I have fostered and brought with me to other jobs.
