A graduate of UCD’s BSc Pharmacology course, with a Research Master’s Degree complimented by 8 years working in the clinical research industry as a GCP trained Clinical Research Scientist.Awardee of Irish Research Council (IRC) Employment Based Postgraduate Scheme which provided me with the opportunity to complete a Masters by Research in UCD in the field of biomedical and biomolecular science in which we hypothesised that platelet secreted proteins vary with cardiovascular disease status and drug treatment. I am a highly motivated, ambitious and hardworking individual with a strong work ethic. I have experience in clinical project design and conduct, ethics committee applications, and importantly the regulatory background for the application of novel assays in clinical studies. I have a wide variety of technical expertise specifically in the area of platelet function and protein identification and quantification using mass spectrometry, aggregometry, platelet function, ELISA, microscopy and spectrophotometry. I have acquired and developed specialist skills for acquisition of data using mass spectrometry and bioinformatic analysis during my Masters project. In particular quantitative analysis of clinical samples (MaxQuant, Skyline), the use of hierarchical clustering to identify patterns in large datasets (Perseus), and use of specialised computational tools (Reactome, Cytoscape, Panther pathway, Perseus) for statistical analysis and generation of reports. I have a keen and passionate interest in the application of science and have taken the opportunity throughout my career to further my education on the transfer of scientific skills to problem solving and project management. As an individual, I am highly self-motivated and enjoy working as part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team but maintain a strong discipline for independent work when required.
