A versatile and community-minded professional, I started my career as a Personal Care Worker delivering the highest standards of patient-centred care, utilising a proactive approach and supportive attitude to improve patient health outcomes for 9 years. This included supporting residents with ADLs, social activities, and mental health and wellbeing, in accordance with individual care plans. It was during this time that I developed an interest in mental health and wellbeing and decided to pursue a career in Education. Now with 12 years’ experience across all levels of primary education, I’m a dedicated educator with strong leadership experience as a Middle Leader in Wellbeing and former Grade 1-2 Level Coordinator. Over the course of this time, I have pursued my interests by completing a Diploma in Mental Health, as well as a Diploma in Alcohol and Other Drugs. I am committed to ongoing professional learning and strive to maintain best practices and continuously improve my skills and knowledge.As an educator, I’m passionate about supporting every child to achieve their full potential and lead whole school initiatives to stimulate optimism, engagement, purpose and self-acceptance. Early in my career I realised the important role that wellbeing and mental health plays as a foundation for effective learning, and how student outcomes can be optimised by nurturing a positive environment, student agency, trusting relationships, and a strong connection with the wider school community. I demonstrate a strong awareness of student needs and implement philosophies from The Resilience Project in support of positive mental health, focusing on Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness and Emotional Literacy (GEM). Building on this foundation, I utilise High Impact Teaching Strategies to cater to a range of learning styles and ensure a sense of achievement by setting attainable learning goals catered to each child’s individual learning.As the Middle Leader in Wellbeing, I coordinate a team planning school events and collaborating with the broader school community to imbed the promotion of wellbeing in school policy, curriculum, and structures. I have managed the implementation of a school wide approach to mental health promotion, prevention, and early intervention, as well as the execution of the Tribes agreement to embed values that develop and sustain a safe, caring, and positive learning culture. In support of ongoing professional growth, I am actively seeking new opportunities where I can leverage my passion for mental health and wellbeing and community service.
