I have a background in international development, with a strong base in evaluation, social and political analysis, strategy and policy development and capacity building. I worked briefly in academia early in my career, and then substantively on evaluations and in management positions with international NGOs - IVS, SoS Sahel, ActionAid, and OXFAM GB - largely in Africa, and also Indonesia and Vietnam. I joined DFID in 1999 and have worked in social development and subsequently evaluation in Southern Africa, Addis Ababa - with UNECA and African Union - Brazil, the Western Balkans, EU in Brussels, and as Head of Evaluation Profession in DFID. I now work as an Independent ConsultantExpertise : Monitoring and Evaluation, Strategy and Policy development, Social and Political analysis, Capacity Building in Evaluation.
