I am a physician executive with experience leading both academic and community healthcare environments. I am a radiation oncologist and expert in the management of men with prostate cancer. My clinical and research focus has been on improving patient outcomes while minimizing toxicity. For example, I developed the oligometastatic prostate cancer radiation program at Duke and am currently the national chair of NRG Oncology's GU011, a randomized trial of SBRT with or without relugolix for oligometastatic prostate cancer. I also developed the first animal model of radiation-induced erectile dysfunction and was PI of multiple preclinical and phase I/II investigator-initiated trials. Finally, improving outcomes includes holistic management of a person's health, and I partnered with colleagues to develop eHealth technologies to improve activity and address cancer-related PTSD. On the executive / leadership front, I have spearheaded large change management efforts to redesign clinical programs while at Genesiscare, a multi-specialty global cancer care network, driving key national and global initiatives to enhance and improve the operational experience of physicians and the quality of care for patients. In this role and as medical director of the Duke Cancer Clinic-North Durham, I bridged clinical and business stakeholders to promote delivery of high quality, high touch innovative care, patient satisfaction, and joy at work. I am driven by results and service to others, whether it be the patient in front of me, the employee looking for how to better perform their work, or the community our organization serves. I serve on NCI, ASTRO, AAPM, ACRO, and NRG committees. I have frequently been faculty at ASTRO and ASCO GU meetings, and have published over 100 articles, chapters, and books, was an associate senior editor for International Journal of Radiation Oncology Biology Physics (2015 -2018) and the senior editor of the practical handbook Radiation Therapy Treatment Effects: An Evidence-Based Guide to Managing Toxicity (2017).
