BVA helps and advises voluntary organisations in Basingstoke's community. Specific projects included a homeless people support programme, and the Hampshire Young Carers alliance.

Radian is a successful housing association that then managed over 21,000 properties in the home counties.

Relate is a relationship counselling charity.

The Mid-Hampshire PCT delivers local and specialist health services for 175,000 people living in Winchester, Andover & the surrounding areas.

This was a district general hospital, and I was the Non-Executive responsible for increasing patient involvement.

I was responsible for the NCVO’s policy and lobbying work on the contribution of the voluntary sector in general. I worked in health and social care, where we supported the community care alliance, and helped to develop the long-term Medical Conditions Alliance.Corporate responsibilities included membership of NCVO management team for six months, being secretary of NCVO’s Governance Review, and chairing the Charity Law Advisory Group. During this time, I managed a team lobbying on local authority re-organisation and public service broadcasting. We achieved significant changes to the Charities bill and regulations, particularly benefiting smaller charities.

Responsible for developing and implementing WaterAid’s voluntary fundraising and marketing plans, publicity, and educational strategies. I managed the UK staff team of six, and voluntary regional committees of over 200 people with a £200,000 budget.

Managed a Department of Energy project on energy-saving home designs.
