I make stuff - and I help other people make stuff.I love the creative process - especially that moment when people's eyes light up and they have a breakthrough or sudden insight. Through my business, Eyes Aflame, I'm able to help people build faith in their own creative ability so that they can have more of those moments, personally and professionally. I do this through hands-on art workshops for individuals and creativity training for businesses and teams.In my own artwork, I build up layers of color and imagery, telling stories and creating a history. I work primarily in encaustic, incorporating elements of collage and assemblage. I also venture into fiber and reclaimed materials like plastic bottle caps.

Portland, Oregon Area

I have served as President, Treasurer, and Sales and Sponsorship Chair for this Portland non-profit arts organization. With other members of the board, I worked to secure our 501c3 designation, as well as greatly increasing community and corporate sponsorship of the organization.

I get to work with emerging small creative businesses and help them build their entrepreneurial muscles - weaving creative problem solving and creative thinking skills into the Entrepreneurial Development Series and Small Business Management 1 curriculum.

Taught designed, and promoted inspirational, hands-on adult art classes in various mixed media techniques, including jewelry-making.

Worked as a sub-contractor on large-scale government IT projects, designing, conducting, and analyzing risk assessment and business analysis interviews with project stakeholders and team members. I was particularly adept at identifying gaps in communications and conflict resolution procedures that put projects at risk.

Worked with owner Helen McCann as a sub-contractor, assisting her on credit union audits and fraud investigations. My specialty was business processes. I interviewed staff, reviewed documentation, and tested samples of various credit union procedures, gathering and documenting the information that allowed the CPA to make determinations about the appropriateness of the processes.

Taught continuing education classes for adults, focusing on arts and crafts.

Designed, conducted, analyzed, and presented results of qualitative and quantitative research. Managed all phases of the client relationship, as well as managing the research process. Industry focus included strategic communications, non-profits, health care, and government. Clients included Wacom Technology, Metropolitan Group, Oregon Lottery

Designed, Constructed and Marketed a line of Batiked and Silkscreened clothing, as well as a greeting card line.
