City Librarian
Current-Be a leader with the proficiency to provide high quality services with limited resources, while confidently and thoughtfully guiding a staff team through a period of uncertainty while the City of Salem navigates a projected budget shortfall. -Be engaged in assisting the City in finding long-term, sustainable funding solutions to provide high quality library services to the Salem community.-Work collaboratively and effectively with all library partners, patrons, and employees while demonstrating excellent interpersonal and communication skills, visionary leadership and project/change management principles and practices. -Ability to promote equitable and flexible business practices to achieve continuous service improvement and inclusiveness in all library operations.-Strong management principles and organizational skills.-Ability to identify and assess impacts prior to making decisions.-Ability to synthesize large amounts of information, think critically, communicate complex ideas in a meaningful way.-Ability to facilitate and lead collaborative problem-solving and solution driven discussions.-Outstanding relationship management skills including the ability to understand customer needs, build trusted relationships and to interact professionally on all levels.-Ability to work with regional district partners and advisory boards.-Possess knowledge of office, computer, and modern library technology.-Excellent communication.-Experience with project/change management.-Knowledge of the methods, policies, practices, principles, and procedures of professional library work.-Experience recommending policies and programs.
