As an occupational therapist and co-founder of Blue Stars Therapy, I am proud to lead a strong transdisciplinary team of professionals who provide evidence-based and family-centered services to young children with neurodevelopmental and behavioral disorders. I am a fully certified Early Start Denver Model (ESDM) therapist, which is a naturalistic and developmental approach to intervention for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and the primary method of intervention used at Blue Stars Therapy.I have extensive experience in working with children with ASD, sensory processing disorder, developmental delays, fine motor difficulties, and other challenges in various settings, such as schools, homes, clinics, and hospitals. I support my team in their daily work collaborating with parents, teachers, and other professionals to develop and implement comprehensive and individualized intervention plans that address the child's needs across all domains of development. I have experince coaching parents using the P-ESDM model, and have help to implement and train our parent coaches at Blue Stars Therapy to continue this program, which empowers them to support their child's learning and growth in everyday activities. I hold a master's degree in occupational therapy from the University of Missouri-Columbia, where I gained a strong foundation in human development, neuroscience, assessment, and intervention. I am passionate about enhancing the quality of life and well-being of children and families through evidence-based and compassionate practice. I am always eager to learn new skills and methods. I was so inspired early in my career by the results saw with clients upon implementing the ESDM. Adding concepts and strategies from the ESDM and ABA into my practice as an OT felt natural and enhanced my skills to promote functional and meaningful outcomes for the young children with autism or other developmental delays I worked with. This is what drove me and my business partner/speech therapist, Amanda Wingertsahn to found Blue Stars Therapy in 2016. We did this with the vision of creating a supportive and inclusive community for children with special needs and their families.
