Emerging Public Health professional. Efficient, organized team member with leadership and creative teaching skills. Transitioning into public health, with specific interests in environmental health and policy, as well as research and equity issues.While obtaining my MPH, I focused my electives on environmental health and policy coursework. This has given me many opportunities to complete research and create deliverables around improving my community on a more systemic level. I enjoyed creating policy briefs, presentations, projects, and papers offering upstream solutions on how health and voting access are interrelated, the opioid epidemic, access to healthy foods while minimizing food waste, expanding organ donation, and climate change while proposing how to engage community stakeholders in this process. For my applied practice and integrated learning experiences this past year, I created an infographic on the costs of gun violence, worked on a community engagement endeavor with a Detroit low income housing advocacy group to improve energy efficiency in homes, and connected with my state senator’s office as a resource for gun violence prevention. The past two years have been an incredible experience to learn how to utilize available public health datasets to analyze epidemiological information, both on my own and negotiating as part of a team. My professional experience as a leader, educator, and clinician complement my more recent education in the MPH program. I cannot wait to see what's next!
