I moved into a role where I had the opportunity to cultivate Lutron’s IP portfolio through patent filing and prosecution, actively supporting Lutron’s IP enforcement activities, and evaluating strengths & boundaries of others’ IP while maintaining some engineering functions. Promoted in 2013 to Patent Manager to support General Counsel (GC), Associate GC, and outside counsel to enforce Lutron’s IP and build stronger alignment between business needs and patent activities. HIGHLIGHTS:♦ Coordinated & chaired business/IP asset review meetings.♦ Drove informed business decisions on licensing opportunities among executive leadership by performing & presenting cost/benefit analysis and technical patent summaries.♦ Drafted, reviewed, and/or filed ~30 patent applications, drafted ~40 office action responses; initiated, analyzed, and summarized ~15 patentability searches.♦ Prepared for major patent case, collaborated with attorneys, coordinated responses to interrogatories, developed and iterated several demonstratives for hearings, settlement discussions and mock trials and provided technical support in filing complaints in the ITC and district court
