Ux Writer/Content DesignerJpmorgan Chase & Co. Jul 2021 - Jan 2023New York, Ny, UsEmpowering people with the right financial information at the right time. I currently work with the Design & Customer Experience team to create content that is seen by Chase's 55 million digital users. -
Content StrategistResource Pro 2018 - 2021New York, New York, UsThe insurance industry is at a pivotal moment where established companies are slow to transform while startups lack the legacy knowledge. Right at the middle of that transformation stands ReSource Pro, a services company with hundreds of clients, 5,000 employees and 20 years in the industry. As content strategist, I helped C-suite execs to produce thought leadership pieces, presentations and white papers. Fluctuating between ground-level and 10,000-feet level, I worked on both the SEO analytics side and high-level strategy of our blog as well as contributing to brand positioning, product launches, nurture campaigns, case studies and sales scripts that drove impact. I managed one copywriter and collaborated with freelancers and influencers. Besides acquiring knowledge of the insurance industry, I also gained experience in crisis communications, change management, workshop facilitation and UX writing. -
Editor, Creator MagazineWework 2017 - 2018New York, Ny, UsJoining this fast-moving company at its peak was thrilling. I started out as associate editor of Creator Magazine, but within my first month became lead editor of the weekly online publication. While the goals of the magazine shifted during my tenure, I stayed true to one mission: expanding the definition of “entrepreneur.” I did that by focusing on creators of all genders, races, nationalities and industries. Many times the stories I wrote were the first pieces of press for these leaders, which made my work fulfilling in two ways—I could help the entrepreneur tell their story and give them a nudge of credibility, and I also created a pipeline of potential brand ambassadors for my colleagues on the public affairs team. I thrived in this role because of my ability to track down unique sources within the WeWork community and ask them thoughtful questions that positioned them as experts in their fields. -
Freelance CopywriterGlobal Brands Group (A Member Of The Fung Group) Jun 2017 - Aug 2017Hong Kong, HkWorking in the Internal Communications Department, I managed email campaigns and articles for the company Intranet which reaches 4,500 employees across 20 countries. The Internal Communications Department is a fast-paced environment, and I had the chance to lead a wide variety of projects, from creating communications and donation channels for a four-day Operation Backpack fundraiser (raising $12,000) to developing the signage for recycling bins that met requirements with NYC laws (the company passed the audit and became an example for other companies in the Empire State Building). -
Magazine EditorAmcham China 2014 - 2016Chaoyang, Beijing, CnOver my 2+ years with the American Chamber of Commerce in the People’s Republic of China (AmCham China), my role evolved greatly from editing the chamber’s magazine to running a mini content empire with 2-4 web articles a week, 8 print issues a year and a weekly e-newsletter. Under my management, the quality and substance of our print magazine greatly increased – as did member contributions, a key part of ensuring the chamber’s communications products were in line with the organization’s mission to serve members. The result: 65% members reported the magazine was “better” or “much better” a year into my role. I also led efforts to make our web content highly responsive to the issues that impacted members, such as a landmark new law limiting foreign NGOs and how to vote from abroad in the 2016 US election. What’s more, I always sought out new ideas across departments to find potential synergies – and to foster the camaraderie that makes work fun.Highlights included:- Polled members to find out that 65% of them saw significant improvement in the magazine during my first year as editor- Penned an op-ed that was published in the Wall Street Journal- Shortlisted for Young Communicator of the Year 2015 in the Asia Pacific Communications Awards- Increased member contributions from 9% of the magazine to 50%, better reflecting the chamber’s mission to provide members with a platform- Interviewed top Asia-Pacific business leaders from Intel, Ford Foundation, Pillsbury, Boeing, World Health Organization and more- Managed content output on web/email/print platforms on simultaneous daily/weekly/monthly production schedules- Produced even-handed insights on the US presidential election and its impact on business, meaning that our content was still valuable (and perhaps more so) after the unexpected victory of Donald Trump- Created audience profiles and brand statements for ongoing marketing efforts - Hired and managed team of up to 3 full-time interns -
Social Media ManagerThe Bookworm 2014 - 2014CnI launched the Bookworm's Instagram account (@beijingbookworm) for their annual literary festival and attracted 115 followers in two weeks. I then continued to manage the literary hub's Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and digital presence, while also launching the Beijing branch's own WeChat account (beijingbookworm). During this time, I delivered two reports on the status of my social media outreach. -
Copy Editor, Metro BeijingGlobal Times 2012 - 2014Beijing, Beijing, CnI worked with Chinese and foreign reporting staff to improve the structure, veracity and style of their stories, then copyedited pages before they went to print. I also collaborated with a team of editors to plan sections and assign stories. -
TeacherBeanstalk International Kindergarten 2011 - 2012I led a classroom of 20 students, aged 2-3. Beyond the typical early learning skills taught at any school, I had to unite my students through English, a language native to none of the tots. As head teacher for the class, I planned and coordinated activities with two other staff members in the classroom. My proudest moment was initiating, organizing and executing a St. Patrick's Day party for the school of 100+ students, complete with Irish jig lessons (taught by me).

Freelance ContributorThe San Francisco Business Times Jun 2011 - Oct 2011San Francisco, California, UsWhile in the process of moving to China, I continued to do freelance reporting for special sections of the paper, then composed a blog post after my move about expat life in Beijing. -
Editorial Intern/Small Business ReporterThe San Francisco Business Times Sep 2010 - May 2011San Francisco, California, UsI profiled more than 50 Bay Area startups and entrepreneurs, from social ventures to social networking sites. I also wrote for focus sections such as Chinese Business, Green Building and the Most Influential Women awards. Blogging as well, I wrote on breaking news relevant to my beat or quirky, conversational details of San Francisco businesses. Additionally, I helped out with copyediting duties for the weekly print publication. -
Intern - The Clark Howard ShowCnn Feb 2010 - May 2010Atlanta, UsWorking on the show as they put together a big special on Habitat for Humanity, I transcribed a whopping amount of footage, making detailed notes for the producer about important cuts of tape. I also packaged raw footage into meaningful sequences for the show's travel segments. -
Features EditorThe Emory Wheel Aug 2009 - Mar 2010As a senior at the paper, I oversaw and developed in-depth feature stories and series, such as coverage of the H1N1 breakout and a three-parter about LGBT issues the university was struggling to keep up with.
-
Editorial InternWabe-Fm 90.1 2008 - 2009During two summer internships, I wrote copy for All Things Considered, Morning Edition and The World. I also interviewed sources by phone and in the field, then edited to broadcast quality. Highlight: contributing to reporting on election night in 2008, getting great audio about a watermelon seed-spitting contest in Cordele, Georgia.
-
Arts & Living EditorThe Emory Wheel Mar 2008 - Dec 2008I planned articles, wrangled writers and worked on the layout for the weekly arts section alongside my co-editor. Favorite moments: following a freegan as he dumpster dove and realizing then-film critic A.O. Scott goes by "Tony" in an interview.
-
Copy ChiefThe Emory Wheel Sep 2007 - Mar 2008My first editorial position at the Emory Wheel. Hired and managed a tight team of copy editors in proofing the print edition and publishing the web one.
-
HostWmre Student Radio 2007 - 2008In a perhaps poorly executed but enthusiastically crafted one-woman-show, I came up with weekly themes to fill in the blank of "Music is my ___," made playlists to fill two hours, and jammed out alone or with friends in the studio. Lots of Flaming Lips, MGMT and Tame Impala, plus some Beyonce and Black Sabbath for good measure.
-
Writer And PhotographerFlorida Today 2004 - 2006UsI pitched stories, wrote and shot photos for the now-defunct "Verge" section of the Central Florida newspaper (then with a circulation of 200,000). I covered topics pertinent to Florida teens such as over-tanning ("tanorexia") and how to incorporate winter fashion trends when it's 65F/18C outside (answer: scarves, yes; Uggs, no).
