Serving as a qualified mental health OT in the first community-based OT-only mental health practice in Oregon. Provide client-led trauma-informed services via telehealth and home/community visits to a wide variety of clients. Continually collaborate with the team to deepen our expertise and delivery of up-to-date evidence-based practice.

As a member of my state organization, I have taken part in various advocacy and continuing education opportunities, including the delivery of a cultural competency unit as a doctoral student. I began volunteering with OTAO in my first year of practice as a conference committee chairperson, recognizing and appreciating the value and importance of the opportunities our state organization has to offer for professional growth.

As a relief acute care OT, I completed 2 weeks of on-the-job orientation before taking on a full caseload of various patient populations and conditions throughout the hospital. I conferred with an interprofessional network of rehab therapists, medical staff, and care management through Teams, Vocera, and in-person exchange to develop the most effective plans for patient care and discharge.Developed proficiency in Epic and Microsoft Suite, including OneDrive, Outlook, and Teams.

After one week of observation, I independently treated my own caseload of clients with neurological (including mental health) conditions. I worked interprofessionally with biokineticists, physiotherapists, a speech-language pathologist, and a neurological psychologist to ensure the best care for our clients.

Under the direct supervision of a certified acute care occupational therapist, I learned the ropes of occupational therapy in the hospital setting, building up to an independent caseload by the end of my rotation. I worked interprofessionally with nurses, physical therapists, speech language pathologists, dieticians, social workers, palliative/hospice care workers, physician assistants, and doctors to ensure the best quality care for our shared patients.
