The Nurse Manager is a Registered Nurse with the oversight and management of daily clinical operations. The nurse manager is responsible for assuring competent, compassionate, individualized patient care for patients and families provided by the staff, including but not limited to medical assistants, licensed practical nurses, registered nurses, and nurse practitioners and other allied health staff he/she manages. He/she is accountable for patient safety and quality of care. In this role, the nurse manager collaborates with administrative and clinical leadership in the practice to ensure that team-based care is coordinated, comprehensive, and that care transitions are seamless. As part of the unit triad leadership team, he/she is jointly responsible for operational, fiscal, quality and safety, efficiency and effectiveness of the unit.

The Mass General Interventional Pulmonology Program manages patients with complex respiratory problems, including lung cancer and pleural disease, using techniques that are less invasive than traditional surgical methods. These techniques often reduce the recovery time, complication rate and discomfort associated with more invasive procedures.
