Main ResponsibilitiesResponsible for a range of applications, interfaces and reporting applications and data sources for Penguin, Pearson Education and Merger market businesses.Applications for Penguin and Pearson Education include bespoke, off the shelf or external developed applications utilising mainly .net, java, SQL server and BizTalk technologies. These applications support bibliographic, editorial, production, inventory management, contracts, rights, sales and marketing areas of Pearson's business.For Merger market, responsible for Oracle financials. This was an externally hosted cloud solution from Oracle.Responsible for 2nd and 3rd line support, operational monitoring, change control, recovery and disaster recoveryProject manage development and implementations of enhancements and projects.Provide a development service to projects and programmes, covering the full SDLC. Design, build and system test in terms of resources, a standard process and deliverables and quality assured delivery. Adopting both waterfall and agile methodologies as appropriate.Establish clear standards and practices within the team for all development and support tasks and processes.Plan and manage a resource complement of permanent and contract support personnel, data architects, analyst programmers, functional analysts and release managers. Maintaining a correct mix of skills and competencies and the wellbeing and personal development of the team.Manage departmental and project budgets.Supplier management of 3rd parties and external consultancies / software houses for software support and development services.Liaise with internal business users and stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities:Manage a team of analyst programmers, Oracle, SQL server and HP administrators and contract/consultancy staff employed as necessary.Responsible for the daily running, development, support, maintenance and enhancements of all business systems. Mixture of bespoke Oracle, SQL server applications (ASP.Net and VB script front-ends), Crystal Reports, Sun Systems, Filemaker, Portfolio and 3rd party software packages.Project manages major installations, upgrades and migration projects. Main Responsibilities:The maintenance and development of the central contract and royalty database system. This key system is utilised across the world by UPI operating companies. The database consists of an oracle database accessed via Centura screens and business objects reports utilising a library of PL/SQL packaged procedures and functions.

Main Responsibilities:The development, support and maintenance of the central advertising sales and production system (CNAPS). A system consisting of an Oracle database, accessed via Oracle forms, reports and graphics. Modified and created forms version 4.5 and 6, reports version 2.5 and 6. Developed PL/SQL procedures for data manipulation, importing, exporting and housekeeping.Liasing with users from both advertising and production teams in terms of problem solving and devising specifications for database modifications and enhancements.

Main Responsibilities:Management of Research Output Database (ROD). An oracle database containing bibliographic and funding details of scientific papers. In terms of software, data, users and subscribers.Management of a team of Research Assistants collecting the data from libraries and ensure the update of ROD timely, accurate and quality assured.Liase with internal IT department regarding system administration, bugs and fixes and clients, external ROD Clients and building up the client base.

• Management, development and support of the central in-house publication text databases and production systems. The publications aimed at the pharmaceutical industry, are produced in a variety of media including hardcopy, on-line databases, Internet pages, Lotus notes databases and CD-ROMs.• Development and modification of Basisplus databases and programs, Word 4 Windows macros, Excel macros, Lotus Notes databases and Internet pages using HTML. Ensure databases are consistent and integrity maintained across publications, via validation checks and programs.• Liasing with internal marketing groups, editors and external on-line hosts regarding publication modification, enhancement and maintenance.

Main Responsibilities:Development and implementation of a bespoke Clinical Trial Project Management database in Oracle using SQL, PL/SQL and SQL Forms. This involved all stages of system development from initial system analysis to training users with implemented system.
