I am the finance director for RoofSafe Solutions and Residential Scaffold Australia. Both companies are well known in the building and construction industry as key providers of roof edge protection and scaffolding. RoofSafe was established only in the last few years to work closely with Residential Scaffold to allow for a complete 'one stop shop' for all builders' height safety needs.I was first employed with RoofSafe as an accounts administrator. Moving into the building and construction industry from taxation was a big step in my career. It was a bold move after spending nearly 8 years in tax, one that I'm glad I took and I haven't looked back. It has allowed me to not only gain experience in a whole new side of accounting and finance but also allowed me to experience a completely new industry. I work with a great supportive team that has really helped me grow from an accounts administrator to the group's finance manager and now a director.As the finance director I monitor, review and report on the group's finances as a whole and also at individual company levels. A large focus of my role is on compliance, insurance, business/tax reporting obligations, cash flows, budgets, financial analysis, tax planning and contracts. Amongst this, my day to day tasks involve payroll, human resources, accounts payable, customer accounts, debt collection as well as managing a small accounts team. My day is always different, it keeps me busy, keeps me learning and I love it.
