The Energy Program Youth Corps (EPYC) is an initiative of the UC Davis Center for Regional Change which was launched in 2008 with support from the UC Davis Energy Efficiency Center (EEC) in collaboration with the Yolo County Office of Education and Region 3 STEM Service Learning Initiative. It is supported by a Bright Ideas grant from Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E). The goal is to inspire a generational shift in the way we think about and use energy.  We work in schools throughout Yolo and Sacramento counties (6th – 12th grade), reaching over 300 students in six area schools and three school districts in 2010. Responsibilities: Worked with over 200 students since Spring 2010 at Harper Junior High School and Da Vinci High School in Davis, CA as well as Woodland High School in Woodland, CA.Taught students (ages 13 – 18) about the principles of power, energy, service, energy consumption behaviors, energy efficient technologies, and energy conservation over one to four one-hour-long sessionsDeveloped lesson plans, activities, and worksheetsCompiled teacher’s guide for programOperated, updated, and maintained website (epyceducation.org) and Facebook pagePresented program to teachers at STEM Service-Learning Institute in Woodland, CA

The Santa Monica Pier Aquarium is Heal the Bay’s public marine-education center located beach-level, just below the carousel at the world famous Santa Monica Pier.
