Grounded in values of restorative justice, decarceration, and nonviolence, I have a passion for combining social justice and research work. Currently, I provide case management services to unhoused people and families struggling with stable housing. I have a specialized interest in work within the U.S. carceral system, and I studied and researched inside Illinois Stateville Correctional Center until the facility's close. In partnership with the Medical College of Wisconsin's Mellowes Center for Genomic Sciences, I look at how social inequality and pollutants interact to disproportionately impact marginalized communities' genomics. This past year, I worked with 26th Ward Alderperson Jessie Fuentes, researching neighborhood crime trends to influence her community-based responses to crime in the ward. These incredible experiences have allowed me to develop skills in project management, grant/research/policy writing, data collection and analysis, public speaking, and leadership.
