Training Specialist In Training
Facilities Service Technician
I work for USDA APHIS, a government agency focused on protecting the health and value of Americas agricultural and natural resources. My role at APHIS has allowed me to support the overall mission by providing technical and administrative support for in person, web-based, and hybrid trainings, administrative, and informative events. In addition to my daily duties, I have been assigned to special projects that have impacted the agency on a larger scale. In 2015 I saw a need to increase active learning opportunities for 1890 Scholars and TMCF interns in Raleigh, NC. I created a three month curriculum that engaged students in leadership development, community service, and increased their networking. This program increased intern engagement, improved their knowledge on the agency, and provided them projects that enhanced their resume. In 2019 I assisted the agency in their efforts to eradicate the European Cherry Fruit-fly. I was stationed in Buffalo, NY for one month collecting and setting traps, creating GPS maps, and analyzing data collected. While I was only there for a month I provided input to improve safety measures, provided input to increase employee engagement during training days, and shared knowledge on employee benefits programs. Upward mobility and employee satisfaction are two topics I am passionate about. To assist with improving both at APHIS, I developed a guideline for APHIS leadership to improve employee satisfaction and increase employee engagement. I lead this project during the pandemic and included best practices for employee engagement based on interviews from current and former leadership at NASA, DHHS, IC, DOC, and GSA.
