As Vice President of Government and Industry Relations for International, a leading truck and engine manufacturer, I oversee a team that manages the company’s interactions with federal, state, and local governments, as well as industry stakeholders in the United States and Canada. My primary responsibility is to develop and execute strategies that align the company’s interests with evolving regulations and policies, particularly in areas such as commercial transportation, emissions, transportation electrification, and safety. This includes managing advocacy efforts, shaping public policy, and ensuring compliance with government regulation. The role also involves engaging with industry associations, building relationships with key policymakers, and representing the company in regulatory discussions. Additionally, my team monitors legislative and regulatory developments and promotes the company’s leadership in sustainability and innovation within the trucking industry.Prior to re-joining International, I advised a variety of clients in the utility and energy sectors, on navigating complex regulatory environments. I am a former chairman and CEO of the Illinois Commerce Commission and was a leading voice among state utility regulators for the modernization of utility infrastructure, and the promotion of innovation and forward-looking regulatory policy. Described as “arguably the most respected voice among utility regulators on grid resilience,” by Public Utilities Fortnightly magazine I have been recognized nationally and internationally for fostering investment in infrastructure and innovative new technologies, and reimagining century old regulatory paradigms.I was active in the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners and asked to chair the NARUC Presidential Task Force on Innovation and served on its board of directors and Water Committee.
