- Coordinate formulation of the Organisation’s Strategy and develop the Finance Division annual plan.-Oversees all financial reporting activities to ensure that procedures applied and reports produced comply with applicable financial reporting standards and any other relevant frameworks.-Co-ordinates the development of budget assumptions and execution of the budget process.-Recommends investment decisions in adherence with the Investment Policy and implements appropriate treasury management strategies to support the Organisation’s activities.-Monitors the activities of the Organisation to ensure that business is conducted and managed in accordance with its objects as contained in the Constitution.-Maintains safe custody of all records of meetings and attendance registers of board of directors, register of Members as well as minutes of general meetings.-Oversees the development of the Information Communication Technology (ICT) Strategy in line with the ZimTrade Strategy and ensures compliance with statutory requirements and keeps abreast of international best practice.-Oversees overall compliance with provisions of all enabling Acts, relevant regulations and the Organisation’s Constitution.

The Secretary of the Investment Professionals Association of Zimbabwe (IPAZ) typically holds a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of the association’s governance and administrative functions. Here are the main responsibilities expected of the Secretary:• Preparing agendas, schedules meetings, and maintains a calendar for IPAZ Board meetings. • Maintaining a secure record of the organisation’s documents, including meeting minutes, policies, resolutions, and other essential records and ensuring the organization meets national and industry-specific legal requirements.• Handling official correspondence and facilitates clear communication channels while acting as a bridge between the Board, members, and stakeholders.• Responsible for keeping IPAZ’s policies up-to-date and accessible and implementing new policies and adjusting existing ones in response to regulatory or organizational changes.

The Board of Directors at IPAZ remains dedicated to enhancing the landscape of investment in Zimbabwe, supporting members and candidates, and promoting growth, integrity, and professional excellence within the investment industry.• Providing visionary leadership to IPAZ, steering the organization toward advancing Zimbabwe's investment industry. • Promoting the highest standards of professionalism and ethics and working to establish and maintain benchmarks in skills, knowledge, and conduct, safeguarding the industry’s integrity.• Actively engage with the government and regulatory bodies to advocate for favourable policies within the investment industry. • Championing the promotion of the CFA designation and the CFA Program and driving awareness campaigns that emphasize the benefits of the CFA designation for career advancement and professional standards.• Promoting initiatives like the CFA Institute Research Challenge—a competitive program for university students— fostering academic engagement and supports the next generation of finance professionals in partnership with universities and industry experts.• Arranging events, networking opportunities, and educational events for CFA members and candidates in Zimbabwe.

As a dedicated investment professional I took a deliberate decision to teach the courses in the CFA Program. This is an exciting opportunity which has allowed me to share experiences with inspiring candidates. The finance school is a product of three CFA Charterholders including myself who are committed to advance the investment profession in Zimbabwe.

Macroeconomic Analysis, Investment Research and Securities Valuation. • Analyse company financial results and provide research summaries for investment decision making. • Undertake research, investment markets analysis and write reports of findings. • Maintain up to date information on the latest economic trends in the country, latest global factors and any updates in the financial markets. • Provide weekly updates on major macroeconomic indicators and quarterly updates covering key highlights of same. • Provide summary of key policy pronouncements and implications on investment markets. • Examine and assess economic and market trends, earnings prospects and various indicators that determine suitable investment strategies. • Analyse Financial results and make earnings forecasts for key valuation metrics. • Conduct market research on the industry and gather market intelligence to enhance management of funds. • Create financial models for securities valuation that enhance return on investment. • Track and Review Corporate actions and provide the appropriate investment recommendations to portfolio managers. • Perform financial due diligence and analysis on prospective investments and recommend investment decisions. • Liaise with fund managers, company managers, stock market traders, stockbrokers, regulators and other stakeholders with a view to optimise business performance. • Attend Analyst briefings and make management contacts. • Produce Monthly Newsletter including investment markets summary for client circulation

• Monitor the day-to-day financial operations of the company • My role includes negotiating with various financiers such as banks, insurance companies and private equity firms for bridging finance on working capital and capital expenditure.• Produce timeously monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with the IFRS and local regulations. • Attending to external audit issues and ensure that all queries are raised within the acceptable time limits with the objective of achieving a clean audit report.• Leading the analysis of monthly and quarterly management accounts and taking corrective measures as well as presenting findings to the board of directors for decision-making. • Preparing periodic budgets and advising on systems and procedures that ensure the targets are met. Supervising standard costing and variance analysis and implementing recommendations from such exercise. • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, in particular Zimra, NSSA, packaging industry regulators and other service providers.

Oversee compliance of financial and investment companies by ensuring that they submit fiscal returns and payments timeously and in accordance to fiscal regulations set by ZIMRA. Furthermore, reviewing submitted financial statements against declared taxes. e.g. banks, insurance companies, pension funds and asset management companiesPerform independent examination, auditing & analysis of financial reports and any financial information. Perform reconciliation between IFRS reporting and reporting for tax purposes by using quantitative tools, namely SPSS, regression analysis and ratio analysis.
