I am an experienced Social Work educator skilled in Career Development, Wellbeing support, Workshop Facilitation, Career Counselling & Coaching and staff and team management. A strong passion for challenging ageist stereotypes and creating a new positive narrative around ageing, I am thoroughly enjoying harnessing this interest in my current role at COTA Tasmania. By strategically thinking through both the system and social issues experienced by older Tasmanians, we can more strongly advocate for equity in all areas of life and wellbeing. I spent 10years working in clinical and management roles in several major London hospitals, sparking my passion for supporting older people. Since returning to Australia I spent 9 years in the tertiary sector, holding a variety of career education roles before moving to the School of Social Work, supporting the organisation and development of fieldwork placements for Bachelor and Masters students. Alongside this I have provided EAP counselling for Benestar Group which enabled me to support others with their self care and mental wellbeing strategies, something I love to do.I am highly skilled in assessment, counselling and case management and enjoy working with colleagues and managing teams. I am fascinated by people, communication and decision making and see myself as assisting others to feel empowered to make positive choices for their lives and career journeys. I love working with and learning from students, mentoring amd leadership roles and supporting people to tune into their values.I thrive on networking and maintaining sustainable relationships that create effective outcomes for the people I am lucky to assist and work alongside. I have a keen interest in mindfulness strategies and their impact on personal and workplace wellbeing.
