About Brigitte Denton
I hold a Bachelor of Science and a Secondary Education Teaching Credential in Biological Sciences. I have over two decades of experience teaching at the K-12 and community college levels and in the outdoor education and leadership field. In addition to my education career, I have maintained a career in emergency medical services and wilderness and rescue medicine. I have over 25 years of experience working and volunteering in this field, including as an ocean lifeguard and an Advanced EMT for an ambulance service. I have volunteered on a search and rescue team and traveled abroad to provide medical care in Africa. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I was involved with the Mono County Emergency Operations Center and led a team of people tasked to provide medical assessments and aid to community members.I currently run my own business, Beyond Limits Education (BLE), where I have merged these two career paths. BLE focuses on layperson first aid/CPR, EMS, and wilderness medicine training and offers educational consulting and instructional design services in various subject areas.I began implementing educational technology in the classroom early in my teaching career. Throughout the years, I have worked with various learning management systems and instructional design authoring tools. Eager to advance my skills further, I am currently working on earning a Master of Science in Instructional Design and Technology. My master's project is focused on using instructional design and technology to create effective hybrid EMS training programs in the Eastern Sierra. I plan to continue this work after I finish the master's program and may pursue a Doctorate in Education Leadership and Innovation with the intent to increase access to EMS training in rural areas.
