I initially joined CIMA before its merger with the American Institute of CPAs in a regional finance and operations role before I progressed to become the Head of Finance and Operations in Africa. After performing this role for 22 months I was then appointed to become the Associate Director of Finance and l was promoted again to my current position at the Association with a global remit.My appointment was made to provide strategic financial business partnering to the organisation which has approximately £60M in revenues and I manage 3 finance professionals and lead team of 8 in South Africa, China, and Malaysia. I was assigned to the role of Head of Finance and Operations for Africa in 2015 and was later promoted to the Associate Director of Finance in Africa following the merger between the American Institute of CPAs and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.My position reported directly to the African Regional Vice President in Johannesburg, with functional reporting to the Chief Financial and Operating Officer based in London and acting as a trusted advisor to the Audit Committee and Board.I led a team of 4 comprising a Customer Service Centre Manager, an IT Manager, and 2 Finance Managers with oversight of a wider cross-functional team of 12 located across 6 countries.My key responsibilities included building relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to deliver positive outcomes for critical business change initiatives and ensuring the business adhered to all relevant regulatory stipulations.I held responsibility for the preparation of the group annual statutory accounts and the supervision of the annual audit process, ensuring the business complied with legal obligations in all territories.
