Brigitte Winter (she/her) has more than 15 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, financial management, fundraising, and strategic communications. She is an author, a poet, a photographer, an award-winning game designer, and the Executive Director of Young Playwrights’ Theater (YPT), a 28-year-old organization dedicated to inspiring young people to realize the power of their own voices. She is also a Co-Founder of Scryptid Games, a small press dedicated to publishing innovative narrative games that encourage aspirational, immediate, and collaborative storytelling and demand a shift in how literature and gaming are defined. The capacity of storytelling to connect, disrupt, inspire, and incite is central to Brigitte’s art and her activism. In 2022, Brigitte was awarded the EXCEL (Excellence in Chief Executive Leadership) Award from the Center for Nonprofit Advancement, in honor of her innovative leadership at YPT in the areas of motivation, community building, ethical integrity, and strategic leadership, as well as her commitment to anti-oppressive and antiracist policy and practice, and her exceptional financial leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic.Between 2021-2023, Brigitte served on the Board Executive Committee of the Baltimore Abortion Fund. During her tenure with BAF, she collaborated with other leaders to transition the board from a working board to a governance board, designing anti-oppressive organizational structures as BAF hired its first paid staff, and growing BAF’s annual operating budget from $250K to over $2 million in three years.Brigitte holds a BFA in Theatre from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), summa cum laude, a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Georgetown University, and a Masters in Public Relations and Corporate Communications from Georgetown University, where she continued to work as an Adjunct Instructor through 2017. She is an alumna of Viable Paradise, a member of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Association, and a 2023 Dicebreaker Table Tabletop Awards Finalist for Designer of the Year. Her first full-length TTRPG, Psychic Trash Detectives, won the 2024 CRIT Award for Best Indie TTRPG and Best Cover Art, and her short fiction and poetry are published in several anthologies, including New Year, New You: A Speculative Anthology of Reinvention by Immortal Jellyfish Press, Forest Avenue Press’s City of Weird: 30 Otherworldly Portland Tales, and Yellow Arrow: AMPLIFY.
