About Brian Moran

Brian is a digital forensic analyst currently residing the in Baltimore, Maryland area. He has approximately 13 years of experience in the digital forensics/incident response field, both in the United States Air Force and the private sector. His initial exposure to the DFIR field occurred during a 6 month deployment to Mosul, Iraq in 2004-2005. He served on a team that provided mobile device analytic information in support of tactical military operations. This experience led to his selection for a year long deployment to Baghdad in 2006-2007. He was initially slated to provide multi-source intelligence information to detainee interrogations, however, his life would forever change in the Naval Air Station Norfolk terminal.Brian was playing Tiger Woods golf (utilizing an Xbox 360 controller as a USB controller) on his laptop prior to boarding a military flight from Norfolk. A few members of the group noticed this and upon arriving in Baghdad the need arose for a "media exploitation analyst". Brian was chosen because "he knew all about computers" and thus began his career in digital forensics. While his selection cannot be 100% attributed to the playing a video game, he likes to believe that his entrance to the field did indeed begin in a fashion similar to the plot of the film "The Last Starfighter".During his tenure in the Air Force he has worked with numerous DoD entities and been invited to speak and share information at several intelligence community events. After his military service ended he entered the private sector and has worked (globally) on several different cases. His favorite aspect of this career fields is that it is always changing and evolving and every case has unique problems, questions, and solutions.

Listed skills include Security, Forensic Analysis, Incident Response, Computer Security, and 15 others.
