I am an ambitious and hardworking UC Berkeley transfer student with a Bachelors Degree in Media Studies. I graduated from Cal whilst studying abroad at Yonsei University where I learned about Korea’s media, marketing and digital communication. I have written articles, opinion pieces and academic papers about racism within Asian communities, LGBTQIA rights, Title IX rights, and more. I have also done multiple cartoons and layout designs that convey topics such as racism, campus life, and politics within America. After graduating, I began working with The Filipino Press to upload our content online. I also began working in higher education with Mesa College's Counseling department. I find so much joy and passion in helping students navigate higher education. After a year working with Mesa, I moved to our sister campus, City College, as a senior student services assistant in our Welcome Center. I assist students with the matriculation and enrollment process, as well as guide them to their next steps on pursuing their academic and career goals. I have been working with the San Diego Community College District for over a year and love being able to pay forward all the good work my own mentors and professors gave me as a student.Outside of my professional career, I enjoy playing video games, watching movies (then immediately going on Letterboxd to read and write reviews), scrolling through Pinterest for fashion and journaling inspiration, and listening to music (lets be followers on Spotify)! I have two dogs named Toto and Toby who I love to death and I'm currently trying to reignite my passion for reading. I am a first generation Filipino who identifies as gender fluid non-binary. All these identities reflect themselves in my writing, fashion, and interests and are things I feel passionate about. Diversity and inclusivity are important, non-negotiable beliefs I hold, which reflects itself in my personal, academic and professional life. I love to teach and also learn!
