I started working as a lawyer in 1987. I then began exploring seminary, eventually giving up my partnership to pursue full time ministry. I was ordained into the ministry in 2007 -- 20 years after being admitted to the bar. This led me to serving a small church in rural northwest Illinois. It was at that time that I was introduced to the Village of Progress, which my adult daughter with special needs attends.After seven years in parish ministry, I was asked to take the position as Executive Director at the Village in 2014.Serving the Village has taught me a lot about the joy of helping to make the world a better place by simply making the community I serve a better place. The work we do may mean little in the eyes of the world. But it means the world to the eyes of those who attend here.Personally, I love to read, bike, and play Backgammon and Chess.What I believe:* I believe we can learn much more from people unlike ourselves than we do from people who look and think like us. * I believe there's tremendous strength in things that might at first seem weak or insignificant. * I believe relationships benefit when we spend more energy listening to others and less energy insisting that others listen to us. I believe that intelligence is helpful, but kindness is invaluable.
