My ambition for my life is to never work in a job I’m not passionate about. We spend more time at work than we spend with our loved ones so I want to engage in work that is meaningful, where I build lasting relationships with others, and I can add value to the lives of others. I consider myself very lucky to do what I love every day, help people experience the world. For the last 15 years, I had an extremely fulfilling and successful career in the travel industry, in a variety of roles. I thrived on sharing the gift of travel, developing others, and building long-term relationships with clients, suppliers and colleagues. I find great joy in creating meaningful relationships with others. Whilst much of the focus in travel is on “getting the sale”, my focus is always on creating a customer for life. Sometimes that genuine connection becomes something more. This year I was honoured to present two of my clients with their rings during their wedding ceremony. The ability to build strong, authentic relationships is a highly-transferrable skill and I believe is one of my top strengths. Eric Butterworth said Don’t Go Through Life, Grow Through Life. I couldn’t agree more. Growth is one of my guiding principles and central to the decisions I make. In 2015 I was feeling stale in my role, I felt there was more out there to learn, so I enrolled in a self-funded MBA. Over the following 4 years, I combined study with my 55+ hour work weeks and in 2019 I graduated, mostly with Distinctions. What I enjoyed most about my study was that all my assignments were based on my own business, so I could apply the principles I was learning.
