In my contracting role with CBPP's Federal Fiscal team, I leveraged my expertise in user research, data analysis, and Python programming to enhance the research capabilities of tax policy experts. My role involved increasing efficiency, ensuring reproducibility, and boosting collaboration using Python and GitHub. In addition to statistical infrastructure, I contributed my own tax policy models to benchmark performance against scores from the Congressional Budget Office and other tax policy research organizations in DC.

As an intern with the Data and Research team at CBPP, I maintained and updated code repositories that constructed large datasets about poverty and inequality in the US with a focus on how government programs help lift people out of poverty. I also contributed to internal R documentation to help individuals throughout the Center and the State Priorities Partnership analyze Census microdata. I also contributed to the construction and maintenance of budget scoring models for proposed Senate tax reforms using an opensource microsimulation model to give 10-year estimates of currently debated reforms to federal tax code.

With Adjacent, I facilitated an online learning experience for liberal arts students to develop tech skills in a four week intensive course. Students received instruction on collaboration using git, website construction using HTML and CSS, and front-end design using JavaScript.

Atlanta Metropolitan Area

As a consultant with the United Way of Greater Atlanta, I worked with the director of Monitoring and Evaluation to measure and report on UWGA's COVID-19 Relief/Response fund. I synchronized data for hundreds of organizations for the multi-million dollar funding effort enabled through state and federal funds, monitoring racial equity trends in grant recipients. I created graphics, talking points, and slide decks for the client to present to internal stakeholders.

Greater Atlanta Area

I worked with a highly-collaborative data-savvy team to provide internal clients the tools, measurements, and insights they need to define, understand, and improve a global non-profit providing self-reliance and empowerment through shelter. As a VISTA, I was tasked with capacity-building projects like improving my team's data governance, building accessible databases to support US programs, and increasing my team's analytic potential by establishing protocols for new external data sources.

I received a competitive social research grant from the George L. Abernethy Endowment to fund a qualitative social science study. I conducted interviews with Darlington residents to explore issues of rural decline, economic opportunity, and inter-generational mobility as experienced by families and business owners in the town of Darlington, South Carolina.

In this role, I managed and monitored a renowned NGO’s web and media presence, including creating social media promotion strategies, editing blog posts and press releases, and analyzing press coverage trends.
