Help Sociology Department Chair promote activities within the Sociology Department. This will entail help updating and creating the department's social media account, promote the department's work by highlighting faculty research and campus activities. photograph and videotape courses and course activities, attending department activities such as meetings, speaking engagements, and get-togethers of faculty and students, posting these on social media using Facebook, Tik Tok, Instagram etc. Work with the Sociology Graduate Program Director to identify universities in order to recruit graduate students to our department.

The GPS Peer Leader Program works within the Gateway Program Seminar to examine the complementary processes of teaching and learning from both a theoretical and pragmatic perspective. Peer Leaders engage, listen, and assist first-year students in a mature and professional manner relating to their adjustment to UCCS and academic success. Peer leaders also work with assigned faculty to contribute to the instruction of their designated Gateway Program Seminar class.

Attend classes regularly or listen to Online lectures, Support observation of students’ participation, Facilitate discussions, Proctor exams, Teach two lectures, total time of 2.5 hours in person or 2 20 minute Online lectures, or facilitate two seminar discussions, Complete weekly reading assignments, Hold office hours at least one hour per week, Lead review sessions for exams and/or provide feedback on exam results, Provide guidance and feedback on rough drafts of papers, Mark ungraded assignments, such as notes, reflection papers, memos; Grade examinations with a grading key, Grade short essays (up to one page) and discussion questions with rubric.

Act as a positive representative of UCCS Downtown to students, faculty, staff, alumni and the greater community, engage in communication with internal and external university clients to process new event requests, event confirmations, and other general communications, assist the Director in the development of administrative processes to maximize efficiency, customer service and mission related outcomes, follow all policies and procedures of the University including uniform and proper equipment handling, provide excellent customer service skills to maintain a friendly and productive work environment.

Assist the director and project manager in updating Matrix Center and Knapsack websites as requested. Provide technical and support assistance for the Knapsack Institute and other Matrix Center and partner events. Assist in developing and implementing social media strategies in accordance with the values and goals of the matrix center and knapsack institute. Work with UCCS IT department and Web Services as needed to successfully complete technical challenges. Conduct outside research into new strategies and solutions in support of completing matrix center goals.
