I am currently a graduate student in the Master of Arts Program in Humanities at the University of Chicago, with a focus on Cinema and Media Studies. My main area of interest revolves around belonging/dis-belonging and how identities are engaged spatially and temporally. I’m passionate about storytelling in all its various forms, and I am excited to delve into archival studies, oral history, digital humanities, ethnography, and performance studies. My previous academic background includes studies in journalism, cultural and racial studies, cinematography, and design. During my undergraduate studies, I wrote and worked as the design editor for the college newspaper, conducted an oral history project exploring place and belonging through the lens of the Great Migration, created experimental documentaries, and worked as a videographer for the Queer Arts Festival in San Francisco. Professionally, I’ve amassed strong skills in program management and non-profit organization. Youth mentorship is also an area that is close to my heart. I’ve taught SAT prep to first-generation high school juniors, and I led the creation of trade-focused youth initiatives where I facilitated job placement and developed a curriculum to boost social, vocational, and communication skills for youth.
