Primary responsibilities include assisting the head scientist with routine lab function (i.e. safely maintain HCl & NaOH, prepare NaOH, NaSO4 aq solutions, dilute small concentrations of HCl & NaOH from 1M to .1M), properly rinse & wash glassware, heat, and store glassware in appropriate places. In the function of laboratory testing, I balance sample pH with a Hanna pH probe and properly store and maintain pH Probe and F- ion probe. I also conduct some sample analysis and weekly calibration of probes dependent on scientist's instructions.

As a student worker I assist the professors in the water resources department at Gateway Community College with administrative tasks such as organizing files, printing copies, as well as minor grading.In the water quality laboratory classroom, I take inventory and maintain chemicals and equipment. This includes ordering chemicals and equipment when necessary or requested. Ensuring a clean and organized lab is a large part of my duties, and prep the lab cart for weekly modules.When the course is out at the shared facility in Surprise, AZ, I am responsible for the transport of chemicals between the Gateway Community College Campus and Surprise Training Facility.
