In this role, I research, fact-check, and write 5 – 10 SEO and data-driven, educationally focused blog posts monthly. I teach top performing student clients to write winning admissions essays to Harvard, Yale, UCLA, Brown, and other competitive colleges and universities. I also multitask and manage my time independently to reach deadlines in a fast-paced, remote environment.

In this visiting researcher position with the University of Bologna Dipartimento di Storia Culture Civiltà (Department of History, Cultures, Civilization), I was able to continue my research in Calabria. Working under the guidance of Professor Elisa Magnani, I also worked on-site at the University of Bologna, attending faculty research discussions and learning an environment that is adjacent to my main discipline.

I am living in southern Italy for the 2022-2023 academic year on a study/research fellowship from the Fulbright program, funded through a relationship with the United States and Italian governments. I am conducting research in small, historical Italian villages that have experienced large population loss in order to write a book of creative nonfiction about identity, belonging, and the people working to create and maintain vibrant communities in places at risk of further loss.

I taught graduate and undergraduate students critical thinking, writing, reading, and public speaking skills. In this position, I've helped create--alongside my colleagues--a brand new section of our university's main library. The Perch is a physical and digital location dedicated to deepening students' media literacy, critical thinking, and close reading skills. It's meant to spur civil discourse, broaden horizons, and increase access to current conversations for students of all backgrounds. The project has been so successful that my colleagues and I were honored to bring our research on The Perch to the Annual Conference on the First-Year Experience in Washington, DC in early 2020.

I spent two years as a multimedia journalist covering the Iowa City and Johnson County area for CBS 2 and FOX 28 News. Most often, I worked as a one-man-band: producing, shooting, writing, editing, and fronting my stories live in the 5, 6, 9, and/or 10 p.m. broadcasts.

I spent two years working as a one-man-band covering Pocatello and the surrounding areas of southeastern Idaho for the market's #1 station.

I was a one-man-band reporter shooting and editing daily packages and VOSOTs for the Maryland Newsline broadcast and also for CNS-TV online clients. My stories appeared on several local publications' websites. I anchored, directed and helped produce our 30-minute television broadcasts.

Assisted in delivering breaking news, researching, booking guests, logging tape, and writing obituary briefs for the Special Events department.

Worked as a reporting intern, covering news on Capitol Hill for Cox's client stations all across the country. Interviewed senators, Congressmen/women, and lobbyists. Occasionally annoyed staffers. Covered President Obama's Inauguration. Wrote, edited and produced my own packages. Wrote and produced multimedia stories. Wrote VOSOTs and VOs. Logged tape. Drank coffee.
