Writing, literature, and language-learning were the focus of my studies at University of Michigan. My studies opened up a great opportunity to teach English in Austria, Germany, Spain, as well as practice my German and Spanish while living abroad. However, I've more recently set aside learning foreign languages to instead focus on programming languages. I've found that the skills that were useful for learning foreign languages have been useful when it comes to learning how to code. Both require attention-to-detail in order to formulate a sentence or line of code with proper syntax. There have been times when I've had to quickly think of a way to reword a statement in a foreign language because I wasn't understood properly. Similarly with coding, it happens quite often that a piece of code does not function as intended and new solutions must be found. The same concepts that captured my interest when it came to writing and languages have drawn me to Full Stack Development, which often feels like the technical reflection of my former studies. Through my education at Grand Circus, I have quickly picked up useful technical skills in the world of web development, such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, Express, React, and RESTful API's. I'm excited to develop and expand upon these skills and see what opportunities they bring, just as learning a new foreign language brings its own unique opportunities.
Listed skills include Spanish, German, Creative Writing, Translation, and 3 others.
