About Brittany Salinas, Mpa

Strength, perseverance, and leadership are few words that describe me. As a first-generation graduate, I have gained invaluable experience in working with undergraduate and graduate students within diverse populations. I bring 10+ years’ experience working in higher education in either an Academic or Career advisory role and about 4 1/2 years’ experience in a supervisory role (3 1/2 being in higher education, 1 year in the healthcare field). The best way I can define my leadership style within my organization is through my commitment to public service. I allow that commitment to fuel my decision making and my motivation to lead and manage. My extensive experience in higher education has provided me with a purpose in life to help those in need while also developing students to become aware of their civic duty, careers goals, and academic achievement.I am acknowledged for my research activities in a published article titled, "The Practice of Youth Inclusion in Community Planning and Resiliency: The Case of Post-Hurricane Harvey" https://doi.org/10.37808/jhhsa.44.1.4 Additionally, my research in Academic Advising includes the presentation of my work at the 2020 TEXAAN conference titled, "Advising as a Customer Service Profession or an Educative Profession? An Advising Perspective"I am interested in roles that involve Academic Advising, Career Advising, Program Management within Higher Education, Teaching, and First-Year Experience student programs.
