Set up the procedure room, prepared equipment and paperwork for surgery, performed initial assessment and evaluation of patient and collected vitals, assisted Mohs surgeon during procedure with instruments and provided hands-on assistance, dressed and provided wound care instruction for the surgery site, and helped with the coordination of closure between Mohs surgeon and plastic surgeon. Removed sutures, sent prescriptions/refills, ordered labs/log pathology reports, informed patients of their biopsy results, scribed, and trained medical assistant

Taught correct forms of therapeutic exercises and corrected faulty movement patterns or compensations via verbal or manual cues. In addition to assisting the occupational therapist while fitting patients in their personal splints for hand therapy, I set patients up on modalities such as e-stim, hi-volt, ultrasound, game ready, and fluidotherapy. I learned to work with a high volume of acute patients who were in the postoperative phases of their recovery, as well as guide fall risk patients with appropriate use of a gait belt.

Worked within a team environment to ensure guests received a fine dining experience. The 5+ years of customer service skills I developed are very valuable and I utilize them in my health care jobs. This experience has greatly improved my communication skills, which also translates to quality patient communication as a future PA. I am confident in my ability to resolve conflict, as well as utilize my interpersonal skills to create a foundation of trust with patients.
