• Manages the Public Information Office by establishing internal and external information and public relations standards, goals, priorities, and operational plans, policies, and procedures • Directs the public information staff on a wide range of creative services and communication strategies• Advises City Council on public information strategies, legislative activities, media presentations and publications• Oversees the development and production of all digital media products including but not limited to City Council news channel, City Council Website, City Council Webcasts, and all City Council Video Packages• Serves as media representative in the absence of a Councilor• Responsible for the marketing of projects and initiatives in all 9 City Districts that affect nearly 213,000 constituents • Gather, analyze and interpret data related to local, state, and national legislation• Responsible for interpreting website, mobile and social analytics data to be used efficiently in deciding the best strategies for all branding, content publishing, online information and promotion of events• Manages relations with news media through news releases, press conferences, briefings, interviews, media appearances, correspondence and reports• Schedules and facilitates speaking engagements for the City Council and maintains relations with outside organizations such as chambers of commerce, local boards and commissions, and neighborhood groups• Develops social media content for a variety of platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and Periscope• Handles emergency communication involving crisis or unforeseen circumstances requiring research, writing, editing and speaking
