Graphic Designer
CurrentAs a Graphic Designer for the City of Chesapeake, I conceptualize and execute visual materials that effectively communicate city messages utilizing the Adobe Creative Suite. My work involves producing a wide range of graphic content for departmental and citywide initiatives, prioritizing clarity, accessibility, and adherence to branding standards. My expertise is in the Adobe Creative Suite, where I create a variety of designs, including booklets, brochures, flyers, online graphics, logos, and social media content all adhering to ADA compliance.My role includes ensuring compliance with the City’s branding standards, working closely with the Director of Public Communications to identify and address issues. I advocate for inclusive and holistic design practices, welcoming diverse inputs while upholding organizational expectations.With strong project management skills, I analyze data to coordinate activities and ensure efficient operations. I excel in fostering positive relationships, providing clear communication and support to colleagues and community members.I serve as the lead design liaison for various city departments. I develop Canva brand templates, toolkits, and resources that empower departments to create their own visually engaging materials. Collaborating with the Public Communications team, I support the message development and delivery needs across multiple divisions.In addition to design work, I provide training and guidance to city staff on utilizing Canva and adhering to design principles. I support the City in occasional event and environmental photography to use in future designs and web sites which also includes photo editing standardization.I am passionate about turning abstract concepts into compelling designs that meet the needs of the city and its residents. My commitment to the Chesapeake Cares standards—courtesy, attentiveness, responsiveness, empowerment, and stewardship—drives my approach to public service and community engagement.
